Baccarat

Baccarat is a sophisticated-sounding name for a simple game. It involves two dealt hands: the PLAYER and the BANKER. You wager on which will be closest to nine (9). Card values are as follows:

• 2–9 are face value
• 10, Jack, Queen, King are valued at zero (0)
• Aces are valued at one (1)

 
There is no way to “bust” on a hand—the hand’s value is a single digit number between 0 and 9. If the total of the cards is a two-digit number, then the left digit is dropped and the remaining right digit is the score. Seductively simple, and great fun!
