2009 MIRACLE ON CANAL STREET CHARITIES ANNOUNCED TODAY AT POTAWATOMI BINGO CASINO

MILWAUKEE (Aug. 12, 2009) – Potawatomi Bingo Casino held a random drawing today to select 14 of its 20 Miracle on Canal Street charity participants. The program was held in the Casino’s Woodland Dreams Ballroom. The charities chosen include:
· ArtWorks for Milwaukee – Milwaukee County
· Aurora Sinai Medical Center Keeping our Babies Safe Project - Milwaukee County
· COA Youth & Family Centers - Milwaukee County
· Lad Lake, Inc. – Waukesha County
· Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Wisconsin – Waukesha County
· MargaretAnn’s Place – Milwaukee County
· Milwaukee Center for Independence – Milwaukee County
· Next Door Foundation, Inc. – Milwaukee County
· Schlitz Audubon Nature Center – Milwaukee County
· St. Rose Youth & Family Center, Inc. – Milwaukee County
· The Boys and Girls Club of Washington County - Washington County
· The Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing – Milwaukee County
· The Youth & Family Project, Inc. – Washington County
· Waukesha Civic Theatre – Waukesha County
In addition to the 14 charities chosen today, six signature charities were chosen prior to the event by the Casino’s Miracle media partners. This year’s signature charities have a special focus – nurturing children through the comforts of home. They will address the most critical needs in our community, including food, shelter, clothing and love. The charities include:
· Father Gene’s Help Center presented by WITI FOX 6 – Milwaukee County
· Food Pantry of Waukesha County, Inc. presented by CBS 58 – Waukesha County
· Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity presented by Clear Channel Radio (WRIT,WMIL,WISN, WKKV, WQBW, WOKY) – Milwaukee County
· Hunger Task Force, Inc. presented by Milwaukee Radio Group (WHQG, WJMR, WJZX, WKLH) – Milwaukee County
· Pathfinders presented by WISN TV 12 – Milwaukee County
· Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin, Inc. presented by Clear Channel Outdoor – Milwaukee County
“Year after year, this proves to be an incredible program” said Melanie Martin, Bingo Director at Potawatomi Bingo Casino. “Potawatomi is proud to help improve the quality of life for area children particularly during these hard economic times.”
The program, now in its 16th year, has raised more than $8.5 million to improve the quality of life for local youth. In 2008, more than $1 million was raised, with over $50,000 going to each participating charity. Money for the program is raised though special Miracle bingo games and other initiatives. Potawatomi Bingo Casino keeps each year’s Miracle total a secret until the program concludes with the 2009 Miracle on Canal Street Awards Program scheduled for Friday, Dec. 11.
