Potawatomi Bingo Casino's Miracle on Canal Street Charity Application Process Kicks Off Monday

MILWAUKEE – For 20 years, Potawatomi Bingo Casino’s signature community program, Miracle on Canal Street, has enhanced and improved the lives of children and their families in southeastern Wisconsin. And now, local charities will once again have the opportunity to become part of this special tradition as applications for the 2013 program will be accepted starting Monday. Since its inception in 1994, Miracle on Canal Street has contributed more than $12.5 million to hundreds of charities.

Beginning Monday at noon, local non-profit organizations which serve children can find the application online at www.paysbig.com/miracle. To be eligible, an organization must have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, serve a primary client base of children younger than 18 years of age and be located within Milwaukee, Racine, Washington, Waukesha, Ozaukee, Dodge, Jefferson, Kenosha, Sheboygan or Walworth counties. Applications must be post-marked by Thursday, June 20.

Miracle on Canal Street’s mission is to improve the quality of life for children in southeastern Wisconsin. Through funds raised from special bingo games and the generosity of Potawatomi Bingo Casino guests, the program focuses the joy of holiday giving onto those who are the hope for the future.

In 2012, 30 children’s charities in southeastern Wisconsin shared in funds totaling nearly $1 million. Last year’s funds improved the lives of children in our community by addressing multiple needs – from educational services to fitness initiatives, from food programs to extracurricular activities. Miracle funding in 2012 helped support a wide variety of charity projects such as providing preventive dental care and oral health instruction to low-income children, funding a free meal program for children and their families and maintaining educational music programs that expose young people to the arts.
