Featuring Bo Bice

It’s been over four decades since drummer/producer Bobby Colomby and friends assembled Blood, Sweat & Tears as the first group to successfully blend rock and jazz. That genre-crossing sound and style was so successful, the band’s second album, Blood, Sweat & Tears, topped the Billboard charts for many weeks, won the prestigious “Album of the Year” Grammy award and produced three timeless hit singles: “You Made Me So Very Happy,” “And When I Die” and “Spinning Wheel.”

“The first version of B, S&T,” says Colomby, “was designed to introduce jazz to pop music. That was my passion…and still is.”

Now Colomby is looking for even more, developing Blood Sweat & Tears into a contemporary voice with an entirely new lineup of talented musicians that reaches beyond a single, nostalgic audience. Looking for a new singer, Colomby received many calls telling him to check out American Idol finalist, Bo Bice, a well-seasoned southern rock singer with a great stage presence and huge audience appeal. Says Colomby, “Many of my more musically knowledgeable buddies also suggested that I ask Bo to join the band. I’m pleased to say that that’s exactly what happened and by the reaction of audiences world-wide, it was a great match.”

“I no longer want to target just one generation,” he says, “I want people of all ages to experience what this music has to offer.”

Towards that end, Blood, Sweat & Tears performs their hits with spirit and enthusiasm, as if they were performing them for the very first time. The band also introduces some new elements into every show, including a segment devoted to “Songs We Wish We Had Recorded,” done in classic B, S&T style.

The arrival of this latest version of Blood, Sweat & Tears is the next chapter in a musical tale that stretches from the creativity and turbulence of the late ’60s to the swiftly changing world of the 21st Century. The next invigorating phase in the continuing adventures of B, S&T is about to begin.
