BLUES AT THE CROSSROADS II
Tuesday, February 5 at 8 p.m.
Muddy & The Wolf w/The Fabulous Thunderbirds featuring Kim Wilson, Tinsley Ellis, James Cotton, Jody Williams and Bob Margolin
From the title of the show, one would think Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf collaborated. Impossible considering both artists are long dead, survived only by their intense blues catalog. Instead, Muddy & The Wolf is a collection of song by both Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf performed as a tribute by various artists, this time, The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Along with the Thunderbirds is original founder Kim Wilson on vocals and harmonica and even more star power.
Joining the show is multi-instrumentalist Tinsely Ellis, bringing a youthful vigor and appreciation for the blues. Ying to Tinsley’s youthful yang are some of the most important sidemen the blues has to celebrate. James Cotton, original Harpist alongside Howlin’ Wolf himself, lends decades of expertise in the genre. Additionally, Jody Williams, also having played with Howlin’ Wolf, brings the signature blues sound. And rounding out the set is Muddy Waters’ axe man, Bob Margolin. Together, all the bluesmen on one stage make for an incendiary night of music.
