& His Lone Stars
Thursday, May 3 at 8:30 p.m.
Alabama-born, Texas-bred alt-country maverick Dale Watson sings about a few things we can all relate to: trucking, beer, bars and women. Watson plays old-school truck-stop country reminiscent of Johnny Cash, appealing to rockabilly and traditional-twang fans alike. This tattooed pompadour-touting chap is also a critic favorite.
Watson got his start in the now-legendary Palomino Club in the late ’80s, recording with non-commercial success until the present. He has been inducted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame and was featured in the 2006 documentary “Crazy Again,” which premiered at the SXSW music festival that same year. The independent country artist has continued making music with a new album, “El Rancho Azul.”
