The Sun Kings
Icons of Sun Records
Tuesday, June 5 at 8 p.m.
The Sun Kings is an extravaganza of classic, American rock ’n’ roll music first recorded during the famed Sun Records session that brought together rock ’n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins.
These artists converged on one single day in Memphis in 1956 to create some truly great music together. It ended up being the first and last time they ever did so. The Sun Kings captures the music, energy and many of the intimate details of that momentous occasion in one raucous, rabble-rousing show featuring the songs of that long-ago night—plus some of the original artists’ greatest hits.
See The Sun Kings for a night of fabulous music, tales of the greats and just a good old time.
Jason D. Williams brings a rich history to his performance thanks to his storied relationship with Jerry Lee Lewis, as well as his vast repertoire and seemingly endless energy—Williams is still smokin’ hot after decades performing his celebrated take-no-prisoners approach to country and rock ’n’ roll. Says Rolling Stone Magazine, “There hasn't been raw, vintage boogie this solid since Jerry Lee lost his steam in the Seventies.”
Ryan Pelton takes the stage as Elvis, a role he’s intimately familiar with, having won numerous awards performing as The King across the globe for audiences large and small. He is an international, award-winning Elvis Tribute Artist, actor and singer/songwriter; Pelton has performed in the world’s largest tribute show, Legends in Concert for nearly a decade, starred in the Hollywood film The Identical, and continues to record his own original music. There is no doubt that Pelton is the rarest kind of performer, living up to his billing time and time again. Ryan Pelton brings to life the passion, energy and sound of King in every performance.
