Things to Do in Milwaukee in March

March is upon us, and we’re feeling lucky to live in such a fun city! Whether you want to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, enjoy live entertainment, try your luck or get your grub on, Milwaukee has plenty in store during the month of March.

Green Season is here! If you’re Irish by heritage or just Irish for the day, Milwaukee is the place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

Looking for a change from the regular green beer and corned beef? Sign up for a themed run! The Jig Jog 4K is a run/walk that benefits the Special Olympics of Wisconsin. The race takes place Saturday, March 3 at Veterans Park on Milwaukee’s Lakefront. Your registration includes a ticket to the Shamrock Shuffle Bar Crawl, a t-shirt and a free post-race beer and concert by Pat McCurdy. On Saturday, March 17, start your celebrations with a run/walk through Wauwatosa. The Lucky Leprechaun 7K benefits the MACC Fund and is followed by a huge post-race party with free drinks and live music at Leff’s Lucky Town.

If running isn’t your cup of whiskey, take in Irish sights and sounds at the Shamrock Club of Wisconsin’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Milwaukee! Featuring more than 140 units, including floats, dancers, bagpipe and marching bands, local Irish and Celtic organizations and more, this parade steps off at Noon on Saturday, March 10. Then Thursday, March 15, rock out with the legendary Gaelic Storm live at The Northern Lights Theater inside Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. This chart-topping multi-national Celtic band is a Milwaukee favorite, especially around St. Patrick’s Day!

The Northern Lights Theater has much more in store during the month of March. Kicking off the month is classic rocker Mark Farner on March 2, followed by the ever-soulful Robert Cray on March 6. Progressive rock pioneers Uriah Heep play two shows March 8 and 9, then Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark takes the stage on March 17 with local talent GGOOLLDD. The month rounds out with Burton Cummings of The Guess Who on March 21 and southern rockers The Kentucky Headhunters on March 22. Bonkerz Comedy brings stand-up to the NLT with Erik Griffin on March 10 and Kountry Wayne on March 24 – these tickets include $10 in FKC Reward Play to keep the fun rolling!
