What's New for Milwaukee in 2018?

The new year is officially here, and we’re saying “cheers!” to new bars and restaurants! Here’s a taste of what’s coming to Milwaukee in 2018:

Toast

The Walker’s Point neighborhood has been sorely missing a great breakfast option for months, but it won’t be long before brunchers can once again enjoy a bite on the vibrant 2nd Street. Opening March 2018, Toast will flaunt a fun and funky 1970’s theme, classic breakfast and brunch dishes and a full bar with specialty breakfast cocktails. We’ll “toast” to that!

Snack Boys Snack Bar

Toast won’t be the only funky new eatery coming to Walker’s Point. Another spot on the bustling 2nd Street opening in early 2018 is the brain child of three Milwaukee masterminds behind Boone & Crockett, Gypsy Taco and The Vanguard. Snack Boys will place a new spin on the idea of “small plate” dining. The playful atmosphere will boast a rotating menu of mouth-watering bites, lighthearted cocktails and plenty of pink neon. Finally, fine dining with none of the frills!

Uncle Wolfie’s Breakfast Tavern

Morning eats seem to be the trend, as another new breakfast spot is slated to open across town in the Brewers Hill neighborhood in summer 2018. Uncle Wolfie’s Breakfast Tavern will feature a simple menu with a solid core as well as items that change with the seasons. The Cream City brick building on Vine Street, with more than a century of history hosts an open, inviting atmosphere. Enjoy a sunny morning bite paired with a local brew – coffee or beer!

Sip & Purr Cat Cafe

Cat lovers, rejoice! Soon you can enjoy your morning java or happy hour wine in the company of friendly felines. Opening by early summer 2018, Sip & Purr has partnered with Lakeland Animal Shelter to become Milwaukee’s first cat cafe. Located on Milwaukee’s East Side, the cafe section will offer local beer, wine and snack options, while the cat lounge will house a relaxing, cageless environment for guests to interact with several snuggly (and adoptable!) cats.

1983 Arcade Bar

Brand new to Old World Third Street is yet another unique place to have a drink. 1983 is Milwaukee’s take on the “barcade,” featuring 22 arcade classics, four pinball machines, two classic consoles at the bar and bubble hockey, with games that rotate bimonthly. Enjoy craft beers and specialty cocktails while you challenge your friends to vintage favorites or try to beat that high score!

Nomad Nacional

If soccer is your game, Nomad should be a familiar name. The original location on Brady Street has been a haven for fútbol lovers since it first opened in 1995, expanding over the years to include a second story, an outdoor patio and now a location in Madison. The newest addition to the Nomad family will take over the old La Fuente event space in Walker’s Point. Nomad Nacional is slated to open in May as a temporary location to host 2018 World Cup festivities including games, live music, a marketplace and designated food truck.

Dining and Drink Specials at Potawatomi

Potawatomi Hotel & Casino has been a Milwaukee landmark for decades, but the promotions never go stale. New for 2018 is a drink special that has us seeing 5’s! Enjoy $5 Bloody Marys and $5 Mimosas while you rack up 5X slot points every Sunday from January 28 through February 25. These awesome deals are available on the casino floor and at the portable bar near RuYi. Grab your crew and make it a Sunday Funday!

If you’re looking to celebrate the new year with a more refined dining experience, be sure to add Dream Dance Steak to your list. For the first time ever, Dream Dance is offering a “Pick Three for $49” option, where you can build your own three-course dinner. It’s all the decadence you crave without the price tag!
