BizTimes Names Potawatomi Casino Hotel’s, Dominic Ortiz, CEO of the Year

MILWAUKEE - Potawatomi Casino Hotel’s CEO, Dominic Ortiz, began 2024 with a new title: BizTimes 2023 CEO of the Year. This award was included as part of the publications annual Best in Business recognition, which spotlights the top newsmakers and companies shaping the direction of the region.

The publication stated, “We are recognizing Dominic as the driving force behind the ongoing $190 million effort to upgrade and modernize Potawatomi’s casino offerings and his commitment to raising Milwaukee’s profile as a premier entertainment destination.”

That was not the only recognition for Ortiz. The Milwaukee Business Journal highlighted Ortiz as one of the top Executives of the Year. “These two recognitions were truly humbling, and I respectfully accepted them on behalf of our 2,400 team members that have committed themselves to making sure we present our guests with the best gaming experience possible,” said Ortiz.

What is Coming in 2024?

Guests of the casino frequently ask two questions: “when is the poker room opening” and “when is the new Sportsbook opening?” The answer, according to Ortiz, is May 2024.

The “Champions” section, located on the first level of the casino, will include the new Las Vegas-quality Sportsbook, poker room and high limit gaming area. The game-changing Sportsbook will be two floors and include a 2,000 sq. ft. LED wall, broadcast booth, seat over 200 guests, ticket writers and kiosks, and the award-winning restaurant and bars guests expect from Potawatomi Casino Hotel.

Next to Sportsbook will be the 4,558 sq. ft. poker room that will feature 14 poker tables and offer multiple games including Pot Limit Omaha. Adjacent to the poker room will be the high limit gaming corner that will include 78 slot machines in the 3,610 sq. ft. space.

“The buzz for the opening of Champions Sportsbook and gaming has been getting louder and louder. Our team and building partners are working non-stop to get the doors open for our guests as quickly as possible,” said Ortiz.
