Watch Thoroughbred Racing History Made at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino

Guests can be a part of history at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino on Saturday, June 6, as American Pharaoh attempts to become the first thoroughbred since Affirmed in 1978, and the twelfth horse ever, to win the elusive Triple Crown. The casino will be the only place in Milwaukee where visitors 21 and older can wager on the 147th running of the Belmont Stakes.

Guests can watch the Belmont Stakes, and all of the races leading up to it, in the Casino’s spacious Off Track Betting Room, or on a massive 20-foot screen in the 500-seat Northern Lights Theater. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. in the Off-Track Betting Room and 10 a.m. in the theater.

“Winning the Triple Crown is one of the most elusive accomplishments, not only in thoroughbred racing, but in all of sports,” said Potawatomi Hotel & Casino Off-Track Betting Manager Paul Lurenz. “Watching this historic race in our theater or our off-track betting room will certainly be thrilling.”

Guests can advance wager on the Belmont Stakes, and its preceding races, from 10:30 a.m. until close Friday, June 5, and 9:30 a.m. until post time Saturday, June 6, in the Off-Track Betting Room. Post time is scheduled for approximately 5:50 p.m. (CST). Wagering will be available in the box office area of the Northern Lights Theater from 10 a.m. until post time Saturday, June 6. Wagers start as low as $1. Off-Track Betting staff will be on hand to answer questions.

While supplies last, Fire Keeper’s Club members placing a wager on the Belmont Stakes can redeem their ticket to receive a free commemorative glass. The glass giveaway will start at 10 a.m. until supplies last Saturday, June 6, near the casino’s gift shop.
